SLOVAKIA
Low Tatras Tips:
The highways to Vienna and Bratislava , going north to Trenĉin and
Ruzomberok. Our destination was
Liptovska Osada, between the higher and lower Tatras, or between
Ruzemberok and Banska Bystrica.. Maps:
You easy can buy suitable walking maps in the cities of Slovakia. Just as in
the Czech Republic, the - many -
trails are well maintained. |

Easter
1995: by accidence we found a private family-pension* in Liptovska Osada.
Also because of the meters of snow in the mountains at that time, we decided
to stay here to make day-walks from the pension. It offers you great walks across the summits of the
Zvolen (1402 m.) or the Liptovske Revuce or the Mala Smrekovica (1485 m.). On
clear weather we never saw such beautiful panoramas…….. On the
route: spoors of the bear…….the views…...the silence…….and
nothing else. ( Perhaps some skiers at Donavalli , a well known ski-resort) . At Easter you can join the Easter-parties in the
villages, even as a tourist and stranger. Prosit! |

* In 1995 Jan Puskasova runs a Family Penzion in Liptovska Osada.
Although booked for 1 night, we stayed
a week. And we enjoyed the exceptional hospitality of “ der Jan”. Below you see him in the kitchen ma-king his famous
“Yethi”, his home made cocktail , named by the abominable snowman, he
said…..and the cocktails were abominable good! “Der Jan” is a great story-teller and a great cook. |
